Rest

Do you know the difference between being busy and being productive? Well, here are a few things to consider:

- Busy people are always on the move, but productive people have a planned destination.

- Busy people quickly take action, but productive people actually stop to review and plan.

- Busy people can sometimes be braggarts, but productive people let their work speak for itself.

- Busy people multi-task and may make more mistakes, but productive people are focused.

- Busy people tend to be more nervous and complain, but productive people are cool and calm.

- Busy people let their day manage them, but productive people manage their day.

- Busy people want to see immediate results, but productive people see long term effects.

- Busy people focus on the now, but productive people focus on the journey.

- Busy people do not take a time-out, productive people enjoy their Sabbath.

- Busy people may waste time with their lack of planning, but productive people make margin for time with the plan.

Which are you?

I have been both at any given time, depending on the situation, the stressors, and my frame of mind. Then a Christian mentor of mine called me out on it... "You do know taking a Sabbath is one of the commandments, right?" Scripture argument, I cannot deny.

Jeremiah 17:24 But if you are careful to obey me, declares the LORD, and bring no load through the gates of this city on the Sabbath, but keep the Sabbath day holy by not doing any work on it,

Deuteronomy 5:12 Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.

Exodus 20:8 Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Isaiah 58:13 If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,

Take time to rest. Take time to absorb God's word. Take time to spend with family that is not chores, errands, or work. Take time to enjoy your life. Rest. Stop being busy and start being productive, make margin for God and give him your time. Make margin for relationships, friends, and family. Give your spirit time to rest.
