Bread of Life

Let’s see what the Bible says about hunger. In John 6:25-70, Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life. What does this mean? The disciples were somewhat confused as well. Jesus was calling Himself the source of our spiritual nourishment. He was telling us that when we are hungry, spiritually, we can go to Him and be full.

We need to long for the nourishment of the Word, of prayer, and of worship. Our stomachs need to growl in longing for His presence. When we do this, our souls will be satisfied, and our lives will change. To stay satisfied and protected we need the word as part of our daily lives. The battle is around us and wants to drain us. Just like our natural body needs food for strength to survive - so does our soul need the strength of the Word to survive.

We must be in the word everyday. We must gear up ahead of time and not try to do this once we’re in the battle. Soldiers don’t look for their weapons when the bullets are flying. They are prepared—ahead of time and at all times. God's word is our weapon, a mighty sword.

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our battle plan is scripture and prayer. Our strength comes from the Word of God, the bread of life.
