Leave it at Baggage Claim

Alright, it has been a minute (or 9-months....yeesh could have had a baby) since I posted. The enemy is very good at distractions and he was busy these last several months. So, here is the first of many things I have been contemplating in that time.

Ever take an airplane? Well, when you do you drop off your "baggage" at the check in and then go through security and eventually board your plane. When you get off the plane, you go to baggage claim and get your baggage back. Simple enough.

Now imagine you are walking into church, a small group, or prayer time with the Lord. As you embark on this journey, you drop off your "baggage" at the door. You leave feeling healed, refreshed, and ready to take on the world with the Holy Spirit at you side. Then you make the mistake, you go to baggage claim... You pick up all those worldly issues, stressors, problems, and "baggage" that you were just set free from.

Mathew 11:28 (NIV) tell us that Jesus said "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." So after we give those heavy bags to Him, why do we pick them back up? Admit it, we all do it... even me. We need to stop. Drop those of at the door, leave them at the cross, and let HIM be the healer and protector. Do not pick them back up. Once he forgives us it is wiped out, never to be mentioned or visited again. Isaiah 43:25 (NLT) “I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again."
