Meek
When I hear this word my worldly brain says weak, fragile, or dull. That is not what the Bible means when they refer to the meek. A Christian who is meek has let go of their willful, worldly ways and submitted themselves to God and the good of others.
“But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.”
Psalms 37:11 NIV
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
Matthew 5:5 NIV
Wow! So being meek, biblically, through the lens of the eternal kingdom is a strength, not a weakness. We don't have to be aggressive and prove something to others on this Earth. We don't have to fight for what we "deserve" or a "fair share" because God will provide and care for us. We will inherit the earth as God's blessed people.
“If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
Matthew 6:30 NIV
“The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.”
Psalms 37:18-19 NIV
The Lord will care for us when we seek him first in all things. Meek men and women of the Bible demonstrated resolve, courage, and conviction. Furthermore, meekness in this world, as well as toward God’s word, requires speaking out against immoral behavior and wickedness; it does not say we quietly stand-by to evil. Instead, meekness demands that we deny ourselves and act on behalf of the good of all people. Being meek means to always turn to God for help and direction, and then the joy of blessing.
