Abundance
Worry about having enough and the fear it creates comes not from the sense of abundance that God inspires, but from the sense of scarcity that is instigated by the devil who wants men to believe that there is a shortage, and they must quickly grab and keep all they can.
Mathew 6:19 tells us that ““Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
Do not be focused on all that stuff. God will make sure we have what we need, trust him over what the latest commercial, email advertisement, or pop up tell us we need. Believe that God will provide just as Romans 8:32 tells us, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”
Stop letting the abundance of modern conveniences convince you that it will make your life easier or better. Stop being stuck on the saved cart wish list you can't afford or the instant gratification of delivery in less than two days. Stop worrying about what you think you need. Mathew 6:25-27 tell us ““Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
Instead, let God's peace which transcends all earthy understaning so we fear mother and are content be our path.
This is so very true. Jon and I started Dave Ramsey’s program of biblical money teaching about 2017, and once you understand this concept of contentment as you describe, it totally changes your need for “things” and turns your heart to being God’s light in the world to others who do struggle. But, struggle is often perception. I’m letting God use me to help a young couple right now who are caught in the trap of trying to keep up appearances and help them see their way leads to so much anxiety and fear. Great post’
