Breakthrough
Ever had your car get stuck in the mud? Your tires just keep spinning and spinning and it feels like you’re never going to move forward. You start thinking of the ways to get out of the mud. Some people will have others push them; that of course results in them with mud all over them and may or may not work. Some people use a board or two wedged up under the tire to give it traction in the wet slippery mud. I’ve also heard of people using other items such as a blanket or the floor mat under the tire to try to give it traction. The worst thing you can do is accelerate, your instinct might be to press your foot down hard on the accelerator - That will make the matter worse. Not only will spinning your wheels not help you get out of the mud, but it could force your rapidly spinning wheels to lose traction and slide even deeper into the mud. You need a breakthrough and you need to get out of the mud.
Sometimes the methods above do get you out of the mud but it usually ends up being really messy. Typically you end up having to have someone pull you out of the mud with a chain or tow strap. The tip: do you have to ask for help. David had to realize this when he was running from Saul.
“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”
Psalms 59:16 NIV
David cried to the Lord for help and gave thanks for his protection and strength. He did not accelerate the timeline even though he knew he was to be king. He stayed strapped to God, letting God ring him up out of the mud amd leading him to his breakthrough.
David exclaims in 2 Samuel 5:20, "The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like a breaking flood. Therefore the name of that place is called Baal-perazim. (which means, Lord of the Breakthrough)."
With the weight of cultural pressure around us, we needed to be encouraged not to give in. Do not spin in the mud or accelerate to nowhere. Trust the plan, ask God for help, and you will find refuge until your breakthrough.
