Morality

CS Lewis tells us that when it comes to the moral law that is in everyone's psyche,

“There is nothing indulgent about the Moral Law. It is as hard as nails. It tells you to do the straight thing and it does not seem to care how painful, or dangerous, or difficult it is to do. ”

Excerpt From

Mere Christianity

C. S. Lewis

What is the "Moral Law"? The Moral Law is not any one instinct or set of instincts: it is something which makes a kind of tune (the tune we call goodness or right conduct) by directing the instincts. In other words, it is our sense of right and wrong. It occurs naturally within us without any written laws or teaching. We have a sense for what is good, arguably placed on our hearts and minds by God.

Christianity, then, helps us to understand this Moral Law as beyond just a "sense" of right and wrong and instead the desire for us from a great creator. This is what Christians are talking about.

“They tell you how the demands of this law, which you and I cannot meet, have been met on our behalf, how God Himself becomes a man to save man from the disapproval of God. ”

This belief in something greater, this belief that God sent his only son to become a man, who died for me, and rose again. That all of it was to fulfill this Moral Law that I can understand and be directed by, but never 100% fulfill. Only Jesus!

Trust God, trust that he put his words in your heart, trust that he came to save you, and trust that He loves you. You know it, your naturally feel it. Morality is of God.
