Treasure

Charles Swindoll wrote in his commentary on Colossians “because Jesus alone is the treasure trove of wisdom and knowledge, the only way false teachers can persuade people to buy their fools gold philosophies is to turn attention away from Christ and toward their fabulous fabrications.”

The knowledge of God is not a secret, not a mystery, and not kept hidden. The Lord wishes himself to be revealed to all. If I go to a kids party or even a show and watch the magician? I wonder how he did those tricks and if you ask him he won’t tell you because they are his secret. God is not like that, it’s not a secret He will reveal it to you if you just ask.

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:2-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That’s the treasure, better than pirates gold, better than diamond rings, better than $1 billion bank account is the knowledge of our Lord Christ Jesus our savior. Be careful those who promise salvation or happiness through any route that isn’t Jesus.

In Colossians Paul warns of false teachers and has to warn the believers that they already have access to "all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge" (Colossians 2:2-3). In other words, Christ-followers find all understanding and knowledge in Christ alone, for He is the fullness of all "treasures of wisdom."

So, keep treasure focused on heaven and worry not the world. The real treasure is hidden in the word of God, you need only to read it.
